Welcome to the ninth lesson
We are headed towards the final stretch of this course. In this important ninth lesson, we will cover an incredibly powerful career development secret: to proactively and continually give yourself an objective and honest self-review.
Note-taking is highly recommended
I highly recommend that you take notes while watching these videos and then revisit those notes in the future. Research has shown that note-taking + follow-up review can increase your retention by 50% or more.

Assignment
You only have one simple but meaty assignment for this lesson—to start your self-review process:
- Identify the key people across the organization whose 360 feedback you would value. Have them identify what you are doing well and what you could do to improve.
- Make sure your Priorities are in a tight frame and do an objective self-assessment (red/yellow/green) of how you are doing.
- Identify any improvement steps you could take to increase your ability to drive your priorities forward.
- Take your 360 feedback and update your Career Development list, incorporating any critical additions as well as items identified above.
- Take this self-review and get direct feedback from your manager on the content.
- Continue this process every week/month/quarter regardless of the underlying HR feedback loop in place in your company (unless it’s already running at this heightened pace).
